Anilyan

They/them | April 13 (25yo) | Portugal
Always busy, INFJ and therefore an introvert. My main interests are writing, drawing and now 3D modeling. Currently a programmer, I dream of working as an artist and a indie creator.
Otaku, blogger, weeb, nerd, geek. From books to anime, I love all of it, especially the lore and the potential to explore real-world issues in fiction. Intersectional activist, open to polite discussions. Multishipper. If you find my old blogs in portuguese, don't assume my opinion hasn't changed.

My art

I'm barely an artist, but people call what I do art. Beware the inconsistent art style.

About, Fandoms and Opinions

From likes and dislikes to fandom stuff, and DNI. Sort of.

My art + FAQ

Despite my inconsistent style that mixes anime, realism and stylistic elements from other people, you can see some common traits between my works. Androgynous characters, fantasy and a lack of decent backgrounds are a few of them. I started digital art in 2020.Currently obsessed with Genshin, so my art reflects that.Commissions - I do...
» General arts and backgrounds (you can pick the artstyle amongst the several options I offer)
» Genshin characters in 2D replicating the style/rendering of the game
» Genshin characters in 3D as mods (they don't come in MMD format, but I will provide the blend file with the model, so if you want an MMD as well you can commission someone else to do the weights from scratch and necessary changes).

Opinions (that might be controversial)

  • I will try to respect DNI, and you can tell me if you want me to stop interacting in case I don't realize I disrespected such boundaries. That said, I won't change my content based on people who interact with me - you can curate your own content, block tags, and I understand if you block me for your comfort.

  • Genderbending is not inherently transphobic, and there are many types of genderbending, not just cisswap, and even depiction of gender stereotypes doesn't imply endorsement. They tend to have different purposes, many even done by trans people exploring their gender, so I dislike the idea of generalizing it. I say this as an non-binary person.

  • It's the responsibility of the adult to back off if a minor doesn't want to interact with them and respect boundaries, and to keep conversations non-invasive. But I see no inherent problem with online or even irl conversations between minors and adults, since looking back on mine nothing makes them creepy. You know, like with teachers? Respectful interactions exist.

  • Aged up child characters for shipping purposes or lewds is a no. But different interpretations of not-children characters' ages are okay. If AU's can change so much about a character, why not that? And as a short adult who accepted their height thanks to short adult characters, I hate it when fandoms say those characters are minor coded. Detailed personal perspective: www

  • If I do/say something racist or appropriative, please tell me and I will do my best to educate myself and fix what I can. I will definitely respect what the majority of a community thinks. But I have researched quite a lot about the topic, in general and for some individual cultures, and realized that not all issues have the same degree of consensus across cultures.

  • Blatant whitewashing (I don't mean slight changes under a certain light, I mean stronger contrasts or making a character actually white) is another no. I haven't completely made up my mind on the topic of turning characters black, and it's not my discussion to have since I'm white myself, so not my place of speech. But if it's done for representation, or even just as a "what if" by a small artist, I respect it.

  • I have been actively learning about social issues since I'm 15. That's why I've seen so many different perspectives and don't see things in black and white, and I also hate how most resources nowadays are superficial and lack nuance. Besides the topic mentioned, I also know some stuff about mental health, fatphobia, classism, ageism, polyamory/relationship anarchy and so on. Plus animal rights and environmental issues.

  • The more I see of cancel culture, the less I support it, and I will never support harassment and threats. Our Justice System sucks, but canceling someone is not a replacement, and it should consist only of not consuming something where the person being canceled is involved, nothing more. And it should only be applied to people who committed crimes or who are extremely influential, not at small creators that can till change for the better.

  • While people should take responsibility for their actions, change can be a part of taking responsibility, and that's a possibility I believe we should allow. Also, "sorry" means nothing to me, only actions mean something.

  • I know what "place of speech" is and that the opinion of a community has more weight than that of a outsider, but that is only useful advice when the majority of a community agrees on something. Allies can and often are more informed about a community than certain members of the community in question (I've experienced this with my own communities too), especially members who make generalizations based on their own limited lived experience. Thus, I don't think members of a community should trample someone's content by claiming that if the creator is not from the community portrayed, they don't know anything and don't get to decide.

  • TL;DR: If it can be consented to by irl people and the communities associated have no consensus, I will probably support that it can be done and is not inherently problematic, as long as it's done from an informed perspective.
